Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about renting a roll-off dumpster in the Huntingdon area — pricing, permits, sizes, and what actually fits in the box.

Below are the questions we hear most from homeowners and contractors across Huntingdon and the surrounding Juniata Valley. If you don’t see your answer here, call us directly at (814) 907-3647 and we’ll walk you through it.

Pricing & Booking

How do I get a price for my dumpster rental?
Call (814) 907-3647 and tell us the size you need, your address, and how long you expect to need the container. We’ll quote you a straightforward flat rate over the phone.
Is the price you quote the price I pay?
Yes. The flat rate we quote is based on your size, location, and rental period, and it’s the number that shows up on your invoice — no hidden fees added after the box is dropped.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Many customers book a day or two ahead, but if you call in the morning we can often deliver the same day depending on the route and your location.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept standard payment methods over the phone or at time of service. Ask our team about specifics when you call to book.
Do you charge extra if I go over the rental period?
Extended rental periods are billed at a daily rate beyond the included time. We’ll tell you your included period and the extension rate when you book, so there’s no surprise later.
Do you charge extra for overweight loads?
Each size comes with a weight allowance. If your debris — especially heavy material like concrete, dirt, or shingles — pushes past that allowance, an overage fee applies. We’ll walk you through the right size to avoid this before you book, see our size guide for reference.

Permits & Placement

Do I need a permit to have a dumpster on my own property?
No. Placement entirely on private property — your driveway, yard, or a parking pad — is unregulated everywhere in our service area. No permit is required for private property placement.
When do I need a permit for a dumpster in Huntingdon?
Any time the container sits in the public right-of-way — a street or sidewalk — inside Huntingdon Borough’s limits, Borough Code Chapter 21 requires a street-occupancy permit administered by Borough Council. The exact fee isn’t published anywhere we can find, so we’ll tell you to call Borough Hall directly to confirm it before booking.
Why can’t you just tell me the Huntingdon Borough permit fee?
Because it genuinely isn’t published. It’s set by Borough Council resolution rather than printed in the ordinance, and the Borough’s own permits page doesn’t list a specific street-occupancy or dumpster form. We’d rather send you to Borough Hall for a real number than guess.
Does the permit process vary by town?
Yes, genuinely. Pennsylvania boroughs and townships each run their own local government, so Mount Union, Mapleton, Alexandria, Petersburg, Orbisonia, Three Springs, and Shirleysburg each have their own separate council or code office to contact, entirely apart from Huntingdon Borough’s process. Belleville is unincorporated and falls under Union Township’s Board of Supervisors instead. See our permit guide for the full breakdown.
Is placement different near downtown Huntingdon or the Standing Stone?
No special review applies to a container sitting on your own property downtown. If it needs to sit in the public right-of-way there, the same Huntingdon Borough street-occupancy process applies as it would anywhere else in the borough.
Can you help with the permit paperwork?
We’ll tell you honestly whether your job needs a permit and point you to the right office — Huntingdon Borough Hall for in-borough street placement, or that town’s own office elsewhere in the county.

Sizes & What Fits

What dumpster sizes do you offer?
We offer 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters. See our full size guide for details on each.
What size do most homeowners rent?
The 20 yard is our most requested size — it typically handles whole-house cleanouts, larger remodels, and mid-size roofing jobs without going oversized.
What size do I need for a small cleanout or garage purge?
A 10 or 15 yard usually covers a small cleanout, a garage purge, or a single-room remodel.
What size do I need for a full remodel or new construction?
A 30 or 40 yard is typically the right call for whole-house projects, larger demolition, or new-construction debris.
I’m not sure which size I need — can you help?
Yes, this is what we do all day. Call (814) 907-3647 with a rough description of the job and we’ll recommend a size based on what similar projects across the Huntingdon area have needed.

Delivery & Access

How much space does the truck need to deliver?
Our roll-off trucks generally need a clear, straight path to the drop spot and enough overhead clearance for the box to be raised and set down. Tell us about tight spots or low tree limbs when you book so we can plan accordingly.
Can you deliver to a tight driveway?
Yes, we handle tight driveways and narrow lots regularly across Huntingdon Borough’s older neighborhoods and rural properties alike. Describe the access when you call and we’ll tell you honestly what will work.
What if my driveway or lot is really tight?
Tell us the access situation when you call — width, overhead wires or branches, gates, and turning room — so the driver knows what to expect before the truck arrives.
Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?
Not necessarily, as long as we have clear instructions on where to place the container and access to that spot. Many customers coordinate delivery without being on-site.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
We place boards under the rails when needed to protect asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces, and our drivers place the container carefully to minimize any impact on your property.

What Can & Can’t Go In

Can I put electronics in the dumpster?
No. Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act bars computers, monitors, and TVs from landfill disposal statewide, so those need to go to a certified e-waste recycler instead of the dumpster.
Can asbestos-containing material go in the dumpster?
No, never. Asbestos requires specialized handling and disposal by a licensed abatement contractor — it cannot go in a standard roll-off container under any circumstances.
What other items are prohibited?
Paint, fuel, motor oil, and other chemicals; lead-acid batteries; whole tires; medical waste; and appliances still holding refrigerant generally can’t go in a standard roll-off. Pennsylvania’s Waste Tire Recycling Act specifically restricts landfilling whole tires, alongside batteries and used oil under general solid-waste rules. Ask us if you’re unsure about a specific item — see our what can go in a dumpster guide for the full list.
Can I put yard waste in a regular dumpster?
Yard waste has its own separate exclusion list even when it’s otherwise allowed — no treated or painted wood, no plastic planters or pots, no fertilizers or lawn chemicals, and no bagged household trash mixed in with the clippings and branches.
I’m not sure if an item is allowed — can I just ask?
Absolutely. Call (814) 907-3647 before you load anything questionable and we’ll tell you straight whether it can go in the box or needs to go somewhere else.
